PROFILE : The year was 1956 when Shri Ajit Ghosh began his musical voyage with effortless ease. A splendid balance is visible in his music and the presentation when he plays various western instruments like the Piano, Piano Accordian, Vibraphone, Organ, Univox and various keyboards on one hand and other oriental instruments like the Indian percussion instruments and Dholak on the other. This music that he creates has come out of sheer talent and also the blessings of his teachers like the legendary Sri V. Balsara, Tony Menezes, Stanley Gomes, Louis Banks and RamGopal Mishra in his very illustrious learning career.
Shri Ajit Ghosh's performance and professional career is equally noteworthy since he started his music recording sessions in the year 1959 with celebrated artists like Pankaj Mallick, Shantidev Ghosh, Sandhya Mukherjee, Debabrata Biswas, Hemanta Mukherjee, Suchitra Mitra, Dwijen Mukherjee, Dhiren Bose, Dhiren Mitra under Hindusthan Musical Production, Megaphone and HMV branded record lables. His music was gladly welcomed and appreciated by the All India Radio (AIR), Calcutta and it was in the year 1964 that AIR graded Shri Ajit Ghosh as a western music artist ('B' high). During this time he represented India and made our nation proud by representing the Zumbori celebration in Kenya on the tenth anniversary of the Kenyan independance. The performance was applauded both by the people and the press. After his return to this country he had the privilege of performing with artists like Shyamal Mitra, Chittapriya Mukherjee, Aparesh and Bansuri Lahiri. At the same time he played and recorded music with the Bollywood singing legends Lata Mangeshkar, Md. Rafi and Mukesh.
In the year 1986, Shri Ajit Ghosh was awarded the Michael Madhusudhan Award for outstanding contribution in diverse fields of science, art, culture and literature. Meanwhile he recorded music and performed with artists like Dhananjoy Bhattacharya, Satinath Mukherjee, Utpala Sen, Subir Sen, Usha Uthup, Shibaji Chattopadhayay, Arundhati Horn Chowdhury, Dipti Roy and Amrik Singh Arora. Shri Ajit Ghosh is the only artist who gave Usha Uthup her first Bengali mega hit song "Aha ! Tumi Sundari Koto ! Kolkata". Since then Usha Uthup and Ajit Ghosh have become a part of the wonderful fusion. Shri Ajit Ghosh also travelled far and wide for his recording sessions with the present artists of Bollywood like, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan and Abhijit.
This gift of music from the Almighty was born with and mastered so well with practice and presentation that now he devotes his time by preachings of music to his innumerable students from all over the city and its outskirts in the quiet corner of his studio and music room and sometimes in Calcutta Festival, Banga Sanskriti Sammellan and other press shows at Rabindra Sadan but far from the glittering lights of media and attention.
Perhaps he is one of the finest music representatives of the last millennium.

Ajit Ghosh is such a musician who teach Piano and Synthesizer to young and teen generation with great expertise to make them a expert musician. He has enormous talent as an ideal music teacher.

COMMENTS FROM LEGENDARY

Usha Uthup :-
What can one say about someone, who gave me my first hit song in Bengali? The song “Aha Tumi Shundari Kautha Kolkata” was composed by Ajit “da” or Ajit Ghosh. A colourful personality full of honour, he waited from 1969 to 1978 to finally record this song ….. It was long wait for me, but really worthwhile.
It still remains one of my biggest hits and I shall be greatful to him forever, for bringing me so close to the people, & hearts of Bengal, Kolkata in particular.
I wish him well, always and forever.
With respect & gratitude.

V. Balsara :-
I know Atjit Ghosh since last 48 years when his elder brother Ranjit requested me to accept him as my music student.
Within a short time, I could realise his hidden talent, as he was already playing good Dholak. Very soon he grasped all the different aspects of music, e.g. Indian and Western Stations, playing Piano and other keyboard instruments.
Due to his sincere efforts, he also took lessons from other teachers to improve his technique, finally, I am happy that he has tuned many hit songs by many popular artists, and is busy teaching young students, who will show their talents this evening.
